The UK government has announced a £350 million investment aimed at increasing access to affordable and social housing, reinforcing its commitment to building 1.5 million homes. This initiative, led by Homes England, is designed to support local authorities and housing providers in delivering safe, high-quality homes to thousands of individuals and families across the UK.

At Busari Group, we recognise the importance of expanding the supply of social and affordable housing. Our mission is to create safe, dignified, and accessible homes for vulnerable individuals, ensuring that quality housing solutions are available to those who need them most. As a private property developer and investment firm, we work to acquire, renovate, and repurpose properties to meet social needs, supporting the broader effort to increase housing availability.

Government’s Housing Investment: What It Means for the Sector

The newly allocated funding will be used to:

  • Expand the Affordable Homes Programme (£300M) – Supporting the development of 2,800 additional homes, with 50% designated for social rent.

  • Increase the Local Authority Housing Fund (£50M) – Enabling councils to create 250 new homes as an alternative to unsuitable temporary accommodation.

This investment reflects the urgency of tackling the UK’s housing crisis, with over 104,000 households currently living in temporary accommodation, often in overcrowded or inadequate housing. However, addressing the scale of the crisis requires collaboration between the public and private sectors.

How Busari Group is Supporting Affordable Housing Initiatives

At Busari Group, we are committed to delivering high-quality, long-term housing solutions by working alongside local authorities, care providers, and investors. Our approach includes:

  • Acquiring and developing properties to lease to care providers, councils, and housing associations.

  • Repurposing underutilised buildings into compliant, high-standard social housing.

  • Ensuring all properties meet and exceed regulatory standards to provide sustainable housing options.

  • Reducing reliance on temporary accommodation through long-term, fit-for-purpose developments.

With the UK government increasing its commitment to affordable housing, we are exploring partnerships that align with our goal of expanding the availability of safe and stable homes.

The Private Sector’s Role in Bridging the Gap

While government funding plays a crucial role in addressing housing challenges, the private sector must also contribute to accelerating housing delivery. Key challenges such as planning constraints, rising development costs, and land shortages continue to slow progress.

At Busari Group, we are dedicated to overcoming these barriers by:

🏡 Investing in sustainable property development to create long-term housing solutions.

🤝 Collaborating with local councils and care providers to ensure homes meet community needs.

💡 Leveraging innovative financial models to fund and scale housing projects.

We believe that by fostering strategic partnerships, we can help drive meaningful progress in the housing sector.

A Call for Partnerships and Investment

As Busari Group continues its mission to bridge the gap between property investment and social impact, we welcome discussions with:

🔹 Local authorities seeking housing solutions.

🔹 Care providers in need of high-quality specialist accommodation.

🔹 Investors looking for sustainable, impact-driven property opportunities.

Together, we can expand access to affordable housing, reduce reliance on temporary solutions, and ensure more individuals have access to safe, high-quality homes.

Let’s Build a Better Future Together

If you’re a council, care provider, or investor looking to collaborate on affordable housing solutions, we’d love to hear from you.
